Eduardo Andrés Enderiz, our PhD alumni, has been awarded the Outstanding Thesis Awards for the academic year 2022-2023. The academic community of the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid recognises the merit and uniqueness of doctoral theses developed at its institution by awarding the Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award.
This award takes into account the quality of doctoral research based on scientific and technological contributions. Taking into account the productivity of each doctoral programme, the award is annual or biennial. Participation is open to PhDs who graduated in the last academic year with top marks (mención cum laude).

Aircraft Trajectory Planning Considering Ensemble Forecasting of Thunderstorms
Description of topic:
The aircraft trajectory planning under uncertain thunderstorm evolution is addressed in this thesis, proposing two novel heuristic approaches. On the one hand, weather uncertainties are characterized through ensemble forecasting products. On the other hand, near real time solutions are obtained through GPU parallel programming.
