Seminar information below:
Mario F. Palos is a PhD student at the University of Tartu, working on developing software for the simulation of E-Sail powered missions. He studied a Bachelor’s degree in Physics at Universidad Complutense de Madrid and a Master’s degree in Space Technology at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He has worked as a trainee at the European Astronaut Centre, as a researcher and assistant professor at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, and as a freelance developer for ESA’s HERA planetary defense mission.
Title: ”E-Sail: Navigating the solar wind”
The E-Sail is a novel, propellant-less technology for small spacecraft to travel around the solar system. In this seminar we will explore how the E-Sail works, the new opportunities that it brings for space missions, the current state of the technology, and the development of simulation software adapted to its needs.
