CAM On Air Research Grants for Pre-Doctoral Training 2023

Grants are aimed at hiring pre-doctoral research staff in training to carry out doctoral theses with the characteristics described in the International Doctorate.

Requirements for pre-doctoral research trainees

  • Candidates who have completed undergraduate or combined undergraduate and master’s studies allowing them to enroll in a doctoral program may be beneficiaries. Both the undergraduate and master’s degrees must be completed at the end of the application period.
  • Applicants should not have enjoyed more than 12 months of any pre-doctoral contract or received scholarships or grants for the same purpose.
  • Being enrolled, admitted, or provisionally admitted to one of the Madrid universities in a doctoral program is required. Enrollment in the doctoral program must be confirmed when the contract is formalized.
  • Applicants should not hold a doctoral degree from a Spanish or foreign university.
  • Having the required average grade in the complete academic record corresponding to the studies used to access a doctoral program (Bachelor’s, Master’s, etc.) is necessary.

Requirements for supervisors and co-supervisors of doctoral theses
The person who directs or co-directs the thesis of the pre-doctoral researcher must:

  • Have a permanent employment relationship with the applicant organization, or, where applicable, an employment relationship lasting for a period equal to or longer than the grant’s execution period. This relationship should ensure the supervision and monitoring of the research work.
  • By the Regulatory Bases, part-time personnel, personnel on leave of absence, visiting lecturers, and emeritus lecturers will not be considered to meet the employment ties requirements.
  • Hold a doctoral degree.

Application requirements

  • Applications must be endorsed by a thesis supervisor of the pre-doctoral researcher. The thesis supervisor will also act as academic tutor during the period of execution of the grant. Doctoral theses may have a thesis co-director from another Spanish or foreign institution.
  • Thesis supervisors may only endorse a single application. If the same supervisor or co-supervisor endorses more than one application, all of them will be excluded.

Duration

The grants have a duration of four years.
