1 Openning position for FPI at Aircraft Operations Lab

We are offering a funded PhD position (a FPI scholarship from the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities) within the national project Climate-Smart Optimal Aircraft Operations for Next Generation Aviation, funded by the Spanish AEI Knowledge Generation Projects and Predoctoral Contract.

The selected candidate will join the Aircraft Operations Lab ar Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, under the supervision of Prof. Manuel Soler and will collaborate closely with an international team of researchers.

Research topics include:

– Contrail Modelling
– Contrail Detection and Radiative Forcing estimation using ground and remote sensing devices.
– Quantification of contrail-induced climate impact

What we (ideally) seek:

– Outstanding academic record and strong motivation to pursue a PhD.
– MSc holder with background in Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Data
Science/AI, Climate Science, Physics.
– International experience; team-working and communications
skills.
– Ability to deal independently with scientific and engineering challenges.
