The sixth internal Exchange Workshop aimed at PhD students in Aerospace Engineering is focused in Symbolic Computing with Sympy, a tool that can help accelerate and check any numerical derivation you may need to carry out in your theses. Guy Cornejo, Luigi Marra, Matteo Ripoli, and Hugo Bergerioux will help us along as instructors this time.
The workshop will be structured around four short tutorials with exercises, where you have the opportunity to share your experiences, tricks and ideas. There will also be a minimal homework to solve afterward, which must be completed to receive the certificate of participation.
Workshop Highlights:
- Working with PDEs and Taylor series expansions (e.g. linearizing a nonlinear problem).
- Solving integrals with Sympy.
- Discretizing a continuum problem; working with tensor indices
The event will take place on:
Date: December 1, 2025, 10:00-13:30
Location: Room 1.2G04 (Agustín de Betancourt, Leganés Campus)
There is no need to pre-register. However, there are some tasks you must complete before you come in, in order to get the most out of the session:
- Indicate you are attending by hitting “yes” on the corresponding form that you should have received.
- Download and install a working version of python, sympy, and jupyter notebooks. The setup we propose is to use the anaconda installation, which includes everything out of the box. But, feel free to use your own python distribution.
