1 PhD Opportunity in GNSS Navigation at INTA & UC3M (Madrid, Spain)

Would you be interested in pursuing a PhD at INTA in the field of GNSS?


We are offering a full-time PhD position. The research will focus on GNSS navigation in challenging or degraded environments. The specific direction of the PhD can be tailored to the candidate’s interests, including hardware, software, or theoretical/algorithmic aspects.


The project has a strong applied component. Previous work has included drone-based experiments and LEO-platform experiments.

Requirements:

  • Having a minimum of 300 ECTS with Bachelor + Master.
  • Master’s degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Telecommunications/Electrical Engineering, Mathematics/Physics or related.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in engineering, physics, computer science, or a related field preferably with a master’s degree focused on telecommunications, aerospace, navigation, or signal processing.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming and data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C/C++, or similar), and familiarity with simulation environments and numerical methods.
  • Experience or coursework in relevant domains such as signal processing, estimation theory, orbital mechanics, geodesy, or applied mathematics.
  • Strong research skills, including literature review, experimental design, statistical analysis, and scientific writing for journals and conferences.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English; Spanish proficiency or willingness to learn is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivation to pursue a PhD, commit to multi-year research
