Abstract
This doctoral plan lays out a research strategy for validating and benchmarking contrail evolution models using multisensor observations. The work aims to collocate geostationary and LEO satellite observations, lidar, radar, infrared imagery, visible ground cameras, ADS-B flight trajectories and meteorological analyses to reconstruct individual contrail cases. MultiCon will be used as principal candidate model because of its multi-physics treatment of long-term plume evolution; however, the benchmarking stage will involve inter comparisons and application of validation framework on other established approaches such as CoCiP and APCEMM. The expected outcome is a validation framework that produces calibrated parameters, uncertainty envelopes, benchmark cases and enriched labels for subsequent radiative-forcing estimation and physics-informed detection.
